Interviews and articles
Speaker Interview: Stéphane Hatterer, Team Leader Qualification Engineering FACC Operations GmbH
In the lead up to Foam Expo Europe and Adhesives & Bonding Expo Europe we caught up with Stéphane Hatterer the Team Leader Qualification Engineering at FACC Operations GmbH. Stéphane is passionate about material qualification and will be speaking about the requirements of the aerospace market.
Blog: Picking Up Good Vibrations
Passenger experience is of paramount importance to the design of any mobility application. Whilst experience can translate into many forms, one of the most pressing is that of acoustic management. As transportation undergoes continuous improvement and adjusts to the needs of the market so too does the requirements of acoustic management methods.
Webinar Roundup: Experts Discuss Enabling a Circular Economy
On 28 September, a selection of experts came together to discuss the topic of end-of-life options for polymer materials in our latest webinar attended by more than 350 peers from the foam and adhesives industries. Speakers included senior technical representatives from Hirsch Porocell, Polystyvert, and VAUDE Sport.
Bäumer’s splitting machine
Split-HE 500, the all-purpose horizontal splitting machine for splitting flexible and hard to split material
High Impact Body Protection Material from Europe's leading producer of cellular rubber
TwinMelt by Lohmann
State-of-the-art technology for sustainable bonding solutions without solvents
Gasketing Foam Tape
Norseal FS1000 Series high-performance foam tape with sealing properties from Saint-Gobain
Bandknives for foam rubber
ALBER’s SUPERCUT, NEOCUT and PRIMECUT are its three categories of bandknives for precise splitting, featuring a thickness tolerance of less than 0.02mm and superior steel. For CNC contour cutting, blades are available with several tooth shapes for low to high density foam and Visco. When it comes to vertical blades, Alber has diverse production capabilities – twisted blades, tooth setting and hardening, hard metal tipping, and different steel characteristics.
All-round PO foam advantages
Sekisui Alveo’s Alveolen is a physically cross-linked, closed-cell polyolefin foam produced in continuous sheets in a three-stage process: extrusion, crosslinking, and horizontal foaming. The sheets have fine, round cells and the two foam skins are smooth. Alveolen covers a broad spectrum of applications, with special advantages including suitability for thicker products, a scratch-resistant surface, and exhibiting very good press forming properties.
Opening new doors for heat and sound insulation
Asahi Kasei Group’s SunForce – based on polyamide bead foam – offers sound-absorbing properties and offers new solutions for a silent passenger compartment. Common to all grades are the adhesive properties, making it an ideal material for composite core solutions in combination with metal, fibres or carbon-fibre reinforced plastics. The raw material behind SunForce is modified polyphenylenether, an engineering plastic with superior heat resistance.
100 years of foaming advanced engineering thermoplastics
Zotefoams will feature AZOTE – premium, lightweight, durable foams widely used in myriad applications where lightweighting, durability, fire safety and low toxicity are key considerations. Alongside these products will be ZOTEK – high-performance foams manufactured from fluoropolymers, engineering polymers and speciality elastomers. These are typically used in automotive, aviation, athletic footwear, construction and product protection applications where lightweighting, personal safety, technical insulation, durability and fire safety are required.
Bespoke case foam inserts
Kewell Converters manufactures a wide variety of case inserts for a myriad of applications from Azote foams, largely because they are colourful, attractive, low odour, durable and easy to convert. Plastazote – a specific close-cell compound that is cross-linked to polyethylene foam – is also available, providing a degree of grip to keep case contents in place irrespective of shape or weight.
